Principle 25: The establishment of trading systems including securities exchanges should be subject to regulatory authorization and oversight.

Pédagogie de l’École Supérieure d’Informatique (ESI / SUPINFO)

Les cours, les TP, les logiciels, sont tous téléchargeables depuis le SGN et le SWN, le réseau privé mondial de SUPINFO. Les cours sont projeté sur des écrans géants via des tablettes PC.^[3] Chaque étudiant à son propre ordinateur portable. Les partenariats avec IBM^[4] et Apple permettent d’obtenir des tarifs préférentiel sur les différents matériels dont un étudiant pourrait avoir besoin. Les cours de management se font en e-learning grâce à la plateforme CrossKnowledge.^[5]

Les étudiants membres de laboratoires pédagogiques de SUPINFO publient régulièrement des articles et des travaux de recherche dans des revues spécialisés et sur les sites Internet des laboratoires^[6] disponibles pour la communauté des étudiants d’autres établissements mais aussi pour les entreprises.

Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT)

Le Graduate Management Admission Test, plus connu sous le nom abrégé de GMAT, est un test standardisé en langue anglaise permettant de mesurer des compétences jugés importantes pour l’étude du management dans une logique d’une poursuite d’étude à l’international en Master of Business Administration (MBA).

Historique

Le GMAC (Graduate Management Admission Council) est une organisation basé à McLean (Virginie) aux États-Unis. Elle organise annuellement des études de marché pour évaluer les attentes du secteur à partir de panels représentatifs des alumnis, des étudiants, d’écoles et de recruteurs. La société ACT, Inc s’occupe du développement du logiciel tandis que Pearson VUE s’occupe de la remise du diplôme.^[1]

Crée en 1953 par le GMAC afin de répondre au problème d’évaluation du niveau des étudiants du monde voulant entrer dans une Business School, le GMAT fournit un système standardisé et international de mesure de la performance.^[2] Le GMAT est disponible dans 96 pays dans le monde, utilisé par 3000 écoles de management et passé plus de 200 000 fois par an.^[3] Il n’a pas vocation de mesurer la motivation, la créativité ou d’autres compétences interpersonnelles qui sont aussi nécessaire à une carrière en management. Le TOEFL est un des tests complémentaires permettant de mesurer le niveau d’anglais des postulants qui peut être demandé pour une admission en MBA. Toute autre mesure n’est pas prise en compte, cela inclue le Graduate Record Examination (GRE) ou le Grade Point Average (GPA) (qui note de 0 à 4.3, le GMAT étant sur 0.53) ^[4]

Il faut passer le test avant la fin des procédures d’admissions en MBA.

Déroulement du GMAT

Il faut remplir auparavant un certain nombre de pré requis pour pouvoir passer l’examen :

• Il faut être âgé de plus de 13 ans.
• L’enregistrement se fait soit en ligne, soit par téléphone, soit par mail.
• Le nom et la date de naissance doivent être strictement identiques aux vôtres.
• Le GMAT ne peut être passé qu’ 1 fois par mois et maximum 5 fois dans l’année.
• Le test coûte $250 (+ les taxes selon les pays), compter $50 de plus pour un changement de dernière minute, et $80 seulement sont rendus en cas d’annulation.

Pour réussir l’épreuve, il est conseillé de lire les réponses possibles avant de lire la question; de lire la question consciencieusement et minutieusement; de travailler sur le brouillon; de surveiller le timer; d’éliminer les réponses fausses pour obtenir le meilleur choix dans les temps. Les annales des Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA) sont disponibles.^{[5] [6]}

L’épreuve se déroule devant un ordinateur et nécessite donc un socle minimum de connaissance en informatique, c’est pourquoi un logiciel de préparation est disponible gratuitement.^[7] Le GMAT utilise le format CAT (Computer-Adaptive Test)^[8] : Lorsque une réponse est validée, la prochaine question est plus difficile et inversement, en cas d’échec, la prochaine question est plus facile.^[9] Chaque phase est présentée sous la forme d’un Questionnaire à choix multiples. De plus, il n’est pas possible de modifier les réponses précédentes. Et, une horloge indique le temps restant. Le temps nécessaire pour réussir la totalité des épreuves est de 4 heures.

Structure des épreuves

Le GMAT est découpé en 3 parties indépendantes.

• Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA) : l’étudiant doit planifier sa réponse avant de commencer à l’écrire.
  • Analyse d’un problème (1 question, 30 minutes) : expliquer son point de vue sur le sujet à partir d’une multiplicité d’exemples de votre expérience personnelle ou de lectures.
  • Analyse d’un argument (1 question, 30 minutes) : analyser les raisons qui se cachent derrière un argument et en écrire une critique constructive en pensant également aux contre-exemples qui pourraient être soulevés. La réponse doit avoir un schéma d’organisation cohérent et des transitions entre les parties.
• Quantitative (37 questions en 75 minutes) nécessite des connaissance en arithmétique, algèbre et géométrie.
  • Résolution de problème : teste l’habileté de l’étudiant à comprendre des descriptions de situations et à résoudre des problèmes quantitatifs.
  • Suffisance de données : Analyse d’un problème quantitatif, reconnaître les informations pertinentes et déterminer à quel point il y a suffisamment de données pour que le problème soit résolu.
• Verbal (41 questions en 75 minutes) : évalue l’habileté de l’étudiant à lire, comprendre et évaluer des arguments.
  • Compréhension en lecture : les sujets abordés sont les sciences sociales, la physique et la biologie, la mercatique, l’économie, et la gestion des ressources humaines.
  • Raisonnement critique : 4 types de questions : construction et évaluation d’arguments, formulation et évaluation d’un plan d’actions. Aucune connaissance du sujet est requise. Il ne faut pas présumer qu’une réponse est correcte avant d’avoir lues toutes les réponses.
  • Correction de phrase : être familiarisé avec les conventions de style et de grammaire anglaise.

Notations du GMAT

Un rapport non officiel est fourni à la fin de l’examen.^[10] Les résultats officiels, eux, sont disponibles sous 20 jours par email et envoyés dans le même laps de temps aux écoles pré-sélectionnées par l’étudiant avant l’examen. Le rapport inclus toutes les notes des tests effectués ses 5 dernières années.

• Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA) : Évaluation sur deux sujets évalués de 0 à 6 points (6 étant le meilleur).
• Quantitative : de 0 à 60
• Verbal : de 0 à 60
• Total : Les scores totaux sont situés sur une échelle allant de 200 à 800 points. Les deux tiers des participants ont généralement une note entre 400 et 600. Pour être admis dans les meilleurs MBA (ex : INSEAD, Chicago GSB), il faut obtenir un score entre 600 et 720.^[11]
